Trip Notes: Headed down to Dallas a few days early for my World Ventures event so that I could go to a couple hockey games. The first game was the Texas Brahmas at the Nytex Centre. Landed at Dallas/Ft. Worth a couple hours before the game. Once I got my rental car, I headed directly to the Nytex Centre. Arrived about an hour before the game. Not that many people were there yet. The parking lot was empty. Had a good time at the game. The fans got into the game. Many with cow bells. That's the latest fad at the games these days. After the game I headed back to my hotel in Farmers Branch. The weather was great the day I arrived, but took a huge turn for the worse the next day. It was constant heavy rain all day long. They had lots of flooding issues. It put a damper on some of the activities I had hoped to do.
Two nights later I went to the Dallas Stars game at American Airlines Center. They played the Carolina Hurricanes. After that was the Convention. I had an amazing week in Dallas!
Stadium Notes: Nytex Centre is small and quaint. Located in a nice area of Ft. Worth right next to a High School. You have the option of free parking on the side streets or $5 parking in the parking lot. It was easy to get to and to park. Inside the arena it reminds me of a local public ice rink. A small concession stand, hockey store, and a big glass window to look into the rink. Most of the seats are good except if you sit on the top row near one of the walls that sticks out. Those people couldn't see one of the nets. I sat in the 2nd row from the top on the opposite end of one of the walls so I had an unobstructed view. Both teams have to walk through the concourse to get out onto the rink, so the ushers have to block traffic until the team gets to and from the ice.
